Service Projects and Social Events

~ About Us ~

Omega Phi Alpha is a one-of-a-kind sorority, and the girls in OPA are just as unique! No matter who you ask, any sister in OPhiA will tell you that she adores service. This is the primary goal of our sorority. To provide our service to the world, we participate in a variety of interesting, exciting service projects throughout the semester. Our passion for service motivates us to give our best to the community and everyone in it. Through these projects, we are also able to form the tight bonds of sisterhood. Whether it's cleaning up a park on a sunny afternoon or handing out candy at the zoo on Halloween, our sisters enjoy every minute of the service we give. We also participate in several social events around campus. Formal, mixers, philanthropies, and homecoming are among some of our favorite social activities. No matter what we do, OPA girls are bound to have a good time and make a difference for the better!

Service

Sisters of Omega Phi Alpha participate in a plethora of different service projects during the semester. These projects can vary greatly in their nature, but they are all highly beneficial to the community. Some of the projects we have participated in include Ghouls at Grassmere, Fairy Myst, Relay for Life, Morningside Nursing Home's Halloween and Valentine parties, Freerice.com, Charity Miles, and many more. Each of these projects is so special, and they bring happiness to all of the individuals involved. Active sisters in Omega Phi Alpha perform at least 20 hours of service every semester. These hours can be obtained in any of the 4 areas: service to the community, service to the world, service to the sisters, or service to the university community. By performing service in these different areas, OPA sisters are able to extend the effects of their service to the most optimal level. Take a look below to see some pictures of our service projects!

Social

Social events are another fun aspect of Omega Phi Alpha. There are several key social events that the sisters participate in, including philanthropies, formals, mixers, and homecoming. Every spring, Omega Phi Alpha hosts a formal for the sisters to attend. The theme changes from year to year, but the excitement of dressing up and spending time with sisters is always present. OPA sisters also get involved with philanthropy events across campus. Some of our notable philanthropy acheivements include winning 1st place in Phi Delta Theta's ALSing competition (2015), 1st place in Pi Kappa Phi's War of the Roses (2014), 2nd place in War of the Roses (2015), and 2nd place in Tau Kappa Epsilon's Teke Week (2014-2015). The excellent gentlemen in these fraternities join with OPA to host mixers, as well. These mixers are a great way for the girls and guys of these Greek organizations to get to know each other in an entertaining, upbeat setting. In the fall semesters, Omega Phi Alpha also collaborates with a fraternity to participate in homecoming. With floats, pep rally, and other homecoming events, OPA sisters give their all to their university. See below for pictures from these fantastic events!
